Local Michigan Chapters

Local Michigan Chapters

Pheasants Forever is dedicated to the conservation of pheasants, quail and other wildlife through habitat improvements, public awareness, education and land management policies and programs.

Pheasants Forever is the only national organization with a model of chapters keeping 100% of the funds they raise. While belonging to a larger national organization that has a voice on federal and state conservation policies, chapters are tasked with finding projects for their funds. Michigan takes full advantage of this model using funds raised for projects locally as well as other areas in the state of Michigan.

Our State Mission

Our State Mission

At the heart of Pheasants Forever is the unique grassroots system of fundraising and project development that allows members to see the direct result of their contributions. Pheasants Forever and its quail division, Quail Forever, empower county and local chapters with the responsibility to determine how 100 percent of their locally raised conservation funds will be spent - the only national conservation organization that operates through this truly grassroots structure. As a result, chapter volunteers are able to see the fruits of their efforts locally, while belonging to a larger national organization with a voice on federal and state conservation policy.

Quail Forever

Pheasants Forever launched Quail Forever in August of 2005 to address the continuing loss of habitat suitable for quail and the subsequent quail population decline. Bobwhite population losses over the last 25 years range from 60 to 90 percent across the country. The reason for the quail population plunge is simple - massive losses of habitat suitable for quail. There are five major factors leading to the losses of quail habitat; intensified farming and forestry practices, succession of grassland ecosystems to forests, overwhelming presence of exotic grasses like fescue that choke out wildlife, and urban sprawl. Our Work

Our Work

Wildlife Habitat Projects - The system of empowering local chapters and volunteers to make the best decisions for wildlife in their local area has resulted in the average annual completion of over 20,000 projects. Since its inception in 1982, Pheasants Forever's wildlife habitat projects have benefited more than 5.3 million acres across the continent. In that time, PF has participated in over 1,000 different land acquisitions totaling over 135,000 acres. Those land acquisition projects have been completed in conjunction with local, state and federal natural resource agencies, and all of those projects are today open to public hunting.

Habitat Conservation Advocacy - Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever's mission is directly tied to a strong framework of federal conservation programs. Authority for critical conservation programs, such as the Conservation and Wetlands Reserve Program, is granted by the U.S. Congress in the Federal Farm Bill's Conservation Title. In total, federal farm conservation programs allow us to manage nearly 50 million acres for wildlife habitat.

Habitat Conservation Education - Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever have developed programs and materials that promote education and public awareness, including its Ringnecks and Whistlers youth programs and the Leopold Education Project.

Our Companies

Habitat Forever - Habitat Forever, LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pheasants Forever, Inc. Habitat Forever specialists are available for hire to complete habitat projects or maintain existing habitat in many areas of the country. Our habitat teams are equipped with tractors, trailers, seed drills, tree planters, watering and fire management equipment, mowers and more. Each team is run by an experienced habitat specialist that can help you plan your project, determine if you qualify for federal or state cost share programs, plant and manage it in order to maximize wildlife potential.

Forever Land Trust - The Forever Land Trust functions as the property management wing of PF, giving PF the ability to accept and permanently protect donations of property and conservation easements.

The Future of Wildlife Habitat Conservation

Although we're extremely proud of the work we have accomplished, we realize that when your work is conservation, the work is never-ending. We invite you to join in our quest to ensure a country rich in natural resources and long on people willing to work to preserve them. After all, natural resources - pheasants, quail, and the land, air and water on which they live - are our greatest resources. Join Pheasants Forever Today!
